David's Story
In January, I stared at the reflection of my unhealthy former self and cried. My breathing labored just walking up stairs. I skipped breakfast and fueled my days on caffeinated sugary drinks, salty potato chips, and fast food. My activities consisted of watching television and lying on the couch. I stood with the reflection of my 51-year-old self wondering where to go and who to turn to. I asked Anthony, a guy I did not know, but who I learned worked as a trainer at Anytime Fitness (Acton, MA) and he invited me in for a free consultation. Anthony made room in his busy schedule for my consultation just two days later. At my first visit to Anytime Fitness, I met the owner, John and both Anthony and John welcomed me, discussing my goals to lose weight and gain muscle mass. Anthony took measurements, revealing a weight of 177 pounds and 40% body fat. At this point in my fitness journey, I never ran a step and I feared the treadmill, but it was not long after training with Anthony that I set a goal to run my first 5k with Anthony running every step of the race with me. Through Anthony, I met a running team and eventually competed in the USATF New England 5 Mile Championships, completing the race in an age-graded percent of 55.98% which places me just under local class according to the USATF. Just five months later, I weigh 150 pounds with 17% body fat. Anthony has changed my life because I am now living a confident healthy lifestyle and I have met and surrounded myself with a positive support group of supporters that Anthony connected me with."
